Shared Kids Closet Ideas

Click the link below to see how we designed one closet for our two girls and it how it became more organized than when we had two closets!

You can watch a YouTube video where I give this closet a 1 year update and check in on how it's doing.

Before

This is what the closet looked like before we redesigned it into what it is now. Such a big difference!

Divide the Closet Evenly

The foundation of the design is the closet system. It’s the reason this shared kids' closet is possible.

Utilize Baskets

My girls are still little and I want them to have autonomy when they get dressed. It's small, but using baskets helps a lot.

Add a Step Stool

Our girls are too short to reach the bottom shelf from the floor. so I added the step to help them reach their things without having to remove the baskets.

Add Fun Inspiration

I recommend incorporating this for many reasons, but mainly because I want my girls to always remember how valued and special they are.

Purge–Less is More

Outside of the closet system, the main ingredient to creating and keeping a shared kids closet organized is purging.

This is how everything is divided and organized after the redesign. The best part is that the girls loved it as much as me!

Over on the blog I also shared a one year update to show how this design has held up to the girls growing up and using it!
