10 Simple and Thrifty Spring Entryway Decor Ideas
Spring is fast approaching, so today I want to share some of my favorite affordable tips for Spring entryway decor with cottage style.
There are some affiliate links below, which means I get a small percentage of the sale at no extra cost to you. I won’t put anything on this page that I haven’t verified and/or personally used.

I feel like I’ve been in such a funk lately.
But now that the sun is shining more I feel excited about the things we plan on doing this Spring and Summer.
We have so many fun ideas for the garden and our outdoor space that I just can’t wait to share with you.
But since it’s still freezing overnight here in Ohio, I’ll be sharing more indoor projects and inspiration for a few more weeks.
Today I’m going to share small entryway decor ideas for Spring.
Spring Entryway Decor
Everyday Items for Spring Entryway Decor
I do this every year.
I do this all year long.
Everyday items for decor is the most thrifty and practical way to decorate in my book.
So when Spring comes I go to my closet and grab my favorite denim jacket and my favorite Summer hat.
Between you and me, it’s not “actually” warm enough in Ohio for me to wear just my denim jacket.
But I’m so ready for Spring I already did it haha!
Another option you could do is pull out your favorite scarves or a cardigan for Spring.
All these items are items you’ll soon be grabbing regularly so just hang them in the entryway and let them double as simple spring decor.
Straw Hats
In my Spring decor post in our kitchen and dining area, I told you I was on the lookout for more straw hats.
Well, guess what I found at the thrift store last week?!
The most adorable straw hat for $2!!
Honestly, it doesn’t get any better than that.
It’s the cutest hat AND it was super cheap.
If I found this hat a target for $20, I wouldn’t like it half as much as I do for $2.
Thrifty decorating is just the best!
(If you feel uncomfortable about bringing articles of clothing or hats from the thrift store you can always throw them in the wash and drier on high heat to kill any unwanted friends.)
Florals
This was a total accident, but I love it!
While I was decorating the kitchen for Spring I took out the vases and stems that I didn’t want in the kitchen anymore and set them on this console table.
Then when I was getting ready to take them back to the basement I realized I had accidentally created this cute cluster of vases and stems.
I liked the way it looked so much that I swapped out my dark vases for clear/light vases and terra cotta pots for that light and simple spring decor I wanted to create.
At first glance, this cluster of vases may seem to contradict my “less is more” type of decor, but in a way I feel like it’s just a different way to achieve it.
If you think about it the only items on this console table are stems and vases.
I might not keep it for Summer too, but I thought I’d give it a try since my first impression of it was good.
What do you think?
Is this too much or does it go with the “less is more”?
Bench/Chair
This bench is the bench I had in the entryway when I first started Open Doors Open Hearts.
**There has been so much growth since that early post**
I’ve had it in the dining room for a couple of years now, and have been craving some change.
So I moved it back to the entryway and I’m happy with it.
I spent zero dollars and I really like it over there!
| THRIFTY TIP |
If you’re wanting change, but don’t want to spend all kinds of money try rearranging your furniture.
This drives my husband nuts, BUT we save money when he helps me flip-flop things every so often!
Not to mention, if you have it in your dining room and like it there, you will probably like it in your entryway as well.
Baskets
I love this basket so much!
Not only is it beautiful as home decor, but the girls and I load it up when we go on our backyard picnics.
I filled it with Spring faux florals since we don’t have any real ones blooming outside yet.
But I’m starting to see buds as I wonder around our garden!!
We’re getting so close!!
Terra Cotta Pots
Do you remember the patio herb garden we had last year?
Well, since it’s still too cold to put anything outside yet, I grabbed a couple of those pots and brought them inside.
Terra cotta naturally feels like cottage spring entryway decor.
So I wanted to add a few of them to our spring entryway decor this year.
Another quick tip, if you like to plant in terra cotta pots consider just placing the plastic pot inside the terra cotta pot.
The clay absorbs water and therefore takes water away from the plant if you plant directly in the terra cotta pot.
DIY Coat Rack
This has been hanging in our entryway for a long time now.
I did this as a DIY before I started Open Doors Open Hearts, and it’s served us well.
We found the wood in a scrap pile up at my husbands family farm.
I brought it home and sanded it down, oiled it, and then added hooks.
It was probably one of the easiest DIY projects I’ve ever done.
Which is probably why it was one of my first haha!!
But it’s perfect for our entryway, since we don’t have a coat closet in this space.
Empty Bowl
This is something I like to use for the same reason as the coat rack.
When we walk through the door we have a spot to drop all our things.
Cute and functional.
Although, now that we have a 2-year-old in the house again I’ve decided this bowl might need to move.
She likes to grab the sunglasses and keys, and although she is a sweetheart, sunglasses don’t stand a chance against her haha!!
Mirror
I’ve had a lot of different things hanging on this wall through the years.
One of the fan favorites was this cheap DIY artwork.
I got this mirror at a garage sale a few years ago.
Like the furniture, moving different decor pieces around can help if your craving change, like me.
I like that as we walk out the door I can take a quick glance and make sure I don’t have mascara smeared across my face.
Vintage Artwork
On this small wall in the entryway I used to have a mailbox.
But I took it down a couple of years ago and just left it empty.
But for some reason this year, I decided I wanted to fill it.
So I added this piece of vintage artwork.
Actually, I know the reason.
I have dreams of giving this small entryway a facelift.
A new pendant light.
Vertical tongue and groove paneling.
A built-in bench with baskets below.
A peg rack, like the one in our kitchen, and a shelf above.
In my vision the bench, panelling, shelves, and peg rack will wrap from the longer wall onto the smaller wall.
BUT, all those things are not on the schedule for this year.
So for now I’m making what I have work and look beautiful.
Spring Entryway Decor | Less is More
Our entryway is small and flows right into our living room, so our Spring entryway decor has to be minimal.
But I do think that less can be more and more beautiful too.

It really means so much.
