Beautiful Winter Decor | Calm & Cozy
After Christmas, I have felt both ready for it to be over and a longing for it to last longer.
The mix of emotions with Christmas decor is real and depending on the year I could go either way.
But regardless of which way I feel, after I finally take it all down it can feel like it is a little “less”.
So today I want to share my favorite tips for creating beautiful winter decor that feels full of life but also calm and relaxing.
Calm & Cozy | Greenery
My favorite and go-to way to add life to any space is by adding greenery.
For wintertime, I like to stick with evergreen stems and eucalyptus.
I love the way both varieties look in a vase alone, but I also love the way they look when you mix them.
The evergreen speaks of winter and calmness, while the eucalyptus is a subtle way to add the life of the Spring that is coming.
Calm & Cozy | Pine Cones
I’ve not always been a huge pine cone fan.
But this year I have them everywhere.
Recently, while I was picking my daughter up from her nature school I saw a few on the ground and they spoke to me.
So I grabbed a few of them and I simply can’t get enough of them.
They are a great reminder to get out and enjoy winter.
If you’re looking for something fun to do this winter you have to try this.
It was a highlight of our winter last year!
Sometimes, for those of us who live in colder regions, I think it’s easy to think we just need to wait it out.
Soon the warmer weather will be here and we can get back to outdoor activities.
But winter is as great a time to get outside and be active as the Summer.
Winter isn’t all cold and dark.
There is life and beauty in winter and by adding these pine cones to my decor I can help remind myself to find that beauty.
Calm & Cozy | Candles & Book
If you’ve been following along you know I love using books and candles in decor.
They are easy to put down just about anywhere and they automatically add a cozy vibe.
I wouldn’t usually put books on my dining room table, but we decided to read more as a family so I put them here as a reminder.
Calm & Cozy | Winter Artwork
Finally, the last thing I like to do for beautiful winter decor is to leave up all the artwork.
The artwork has a way of speaking to your soul.
At least it does for me.
So if the artwork isn’t Christmas-y then I leave it up.
This artwork is called “December Bridge” but to me, the bridge can last all winter long.
Beautiful Winter Decor | Promise of Spring
This is my favorite part of decorating for winter.
Finding the balance between the calm of winter and the hope of Spring.
I always try to incorporate something that reminds me of the hope that is coming when I decorate for winter.
While I love winter and the rest that comes with it, if I’m not careful the dreary and cold days can make me kind of grumpy.
Que home decor that reminds me of the promise of Spring to get me through winter.
Beautiful Winter Decor | White Flowers
Every winter I pull these flowers out.
Honestly, I didn’t even realize it until this year.
I’ve had them for years and I love them in the winter.
Colorful flowers could work too, but I love the cream.
They feel like they speak to both the life that is coming, but also to the white blankets of snow that we have outside during the winter.
Not to mention white is just a calm color.
Another fun flower activity I did with the girls last year was this pressed flower project.
It was a fun way to remember what’s coming during the winter.
Beautiful Winter Decor | Birds
Finally, this is something specific to me, but you could modify it to fit you easily.
I’ve always been fond of birds.
I’m not totally sure why.
The best I could come up with was when I left for college, I always felt like birds were a reminder that if God takes care of the birds that he is going to take care of me too.
But, regardless I have started a small collection of birds that speak to me over the years.
This year I decided to bring one of them out, my first actually, and add it to the center of our dining room table.
This little bird is another great reminder to help me get through the long cold winters of Ohio.
If you haven’t already noticed many of the ways I choose to decorate for Winter have to do with “reminders”.
During the winter I want to be reminded of the Spring that is coming, to find the beauty in the winter, and to rest and relax.
Those are my main goals.
I encourage you to think about those three things as you begin to decor your home for winter.
It might not be birds and flowers, and eucalyptus.
It might be something completely different.
But regardless, in my opinion, those are the best ways to decorate your home for winter.

Aliya, your winter reminders have been placed throughout my home without my even realizing I’ve grativated toward the same – greenery, pine cones, books, winter prints. My sheep are your birds. 🙂 WInter can be so gray here in WV too – especially when all day rain follows 10″ of snow like we had this past weekend. Your home speaks calm, just what the soul needs after a hectic season of holidays, spikes in Covid, and back to schedules. It’s a pleasure to hop with you for these winter transitions at home.

You have the most beautiful home, Aliya! I love all your winter touches and of course your copper pots too. They’re such a pretty collection and remind me of a French country house every time I see them. I never thought about adding birds to winter decor but I love it! I’m definitely going to look for ways to add them around our house too. Yours are fabulous! Hugs and happy winter, CoCo

Aliya, your home is just outstanding. You have a great eye and a fabulous style. I can’t take my eyes off that pot collection. I just scrolled up and down too many times to count, to take in the view. I see magazine features in your future…if you haven’t been featured already!! Happy Winter!

I am so with you and birds. I love watching the birds outside around my fountain and I love little decorative ones scattered around my house. Tuck them here and there in unexpected places.
Aliya
Oh, you have a fountain!! We’re thinking of adding a birdbath to help attract more birds to our little garden!! I’m glad I’m not the only one that birds speak to!! Have a great weekend!
