European Farmhouse Inspired Living Room: Beautiful & Cozy Fall Decor
It’s officially Fall! I’m so excited to start sharing all the cozy Fall decor in our home and today I’m starting with the living room!
This week I’m joining a group of wonderful ladies to share our homes all dressed up for Fall.
This is one of my favorite weeks of the year!
It’s such a fun and talented group of ladies!
Before I share my cozy Fall decor with you I want to say a big thank you to Kelly with The Tattered Pew for organizing this blog hop!
If you’re here from Shawna’s beautiful Fall home thanks for coming!

Cozy Fall European Cottage Decor: Living Room and Entryway
If you’ve been around for a little while you are probably a little surprised to see my living room.
I’m usually sharing my kitchen, dining room, or entryway.
Honestly, I don’t share my living room much at all.
But my husband and I have decided that our living room could be so much closer to the living room we want it to be with a just few simple DIY projects.
Nothing too big.
Just some stripping, sanding, painting, and a little bit of shopping.
(Good thing we finished the girls’ bedroom makeover last week huh? haha!)
With that in mind, I decided I wanted to share our living room the way she is right now.
Even though the living room isn’t the living room of our dreams it’s one of our favorite rooms in the house this time of year.
When the weather starts to get colder you can find us curled up on the couch reading books to the girls, wrestling and playing “tickle monster”, or jumping and dancing like crazy to our favorite songs!
4 Easy Ways to Add Cozy Fall Decor
The first thing I did was decide on my color scheme for my cozy Fall decor this year.
If you read my early fall entryway post, you know I decided on a pallet that takes me back to my childhood.
All the nostalgia.
I decided to go with purples, burgundy, and mustard.
In my childhood house, the entryway was purple and gold, and the living room was burgundy.
The family room was orange and green.
My mom loves all those warm tones!
Cozy Fall Decor: Cozy Leaves/Stems
I knew I wanted to use some of the gorgeous Autumn Olive in my Fall decor again, but I wanted to add my cozy fall colors.
I did this in two different ways.
First, I added some purple/burgundy berries to the autumn olive branches.
The branches have red berries naturally, so I just took some of the berries I had in my Fall decor totes and added them.
The other way I added my colors was by simply putting purple/burgundy stems in a vase or in a bowl filled with white pumpkins.
I had some of the purple stems in my Fall totes but I did run out to Target and grab some new ones.
Cozy Fall Decor: Cozy Pillows and Throws
I like my neutral pillow covers so much.
They are tried and true.
Truly, a great foundation for all of the seasons.
But I also realize that pillows are a great way to add a pop of color and for fairly cheap too!
So I added some of the purples there.
The same is true with the blankets.
Although I didn’t find any purple blankets that seemed to fit the bill, I did find this soft mustard blanket scarf that fits perfectly.
Cozy Fall Decor: Pumpkins/Gourds
This is one of my favorite parts of Fall decor!
I LOVE PUMPKINS!
I know this is a point of contention for some people, but I’m all about the pumpkins.
We usually wait to buy ours from the alpaca farm down the street from our house.
They have a cute fall festival every year in September and sell pumpkins, squash, gourds, and mums.
This is actually where I was first introduced to gourds as a form of fall decor!
She grows them, lets them dry, then she carves them and sets them up all over their beautiful property.
In my opinion, you can never have too many pumpkins, but this year I bought fewer pumpkins than I have in years past.
Maybe because we grew some baby white pumpkins in our garden this year?
I don’t know…
But I still think it adds that cozy Fall feeling no matter how many you have.
Cozy Fall Decor: Cozy Painting/Wall Art
I’m so excited about this part of my fall decor this year.
I have been on the hunt at garage sales all Summer.
Hunting for picture frames that fit the European farmhouse style.
When I found this frame I knew I had to bring it home.
The best part is it was only $10!
Remember when I shared our adoption story with you?
The ultimate goal will be to add this picture frame to our bedroom with the antique hutch we just repaired once we finish it next year.
Until then, I do love it on our mantel!
After I had the frame I ordered some printable art and had it printed from Walgreens.
It’s called “Autumn Reflections” probably because of the reflection on the water, but when I saw it and read the title it made me think about doing some reflecting of myself and nature.
Total coincidence, but my husband and I just started reading Walden last night which seems like it is going to be a beautiful book about reflecting on self and nature haha!
I can’t wait to get further into it!
Well, that’s it for my Fall home tour!

Your fall living room looks so pretty, Aliya! Vermont is our favorite vacation spot so I particularly love your covered bridge picture. I also love that you have a vintage stereo console. Does it work? I have my dad’s but it needs to be rewired.

Your home is so cozy and inviting! And I just love that you use real pumpkins inside. Why have I never thought of that? I always use real outside on the porch and faux inside. You’ve inspired me to bring some amazing heirloom pumkins inside!

I loved seeing your living room! Love the angles, the high ceiling and the stone fireplace. Growing up, my mom used to decorate for Fall with those colors; they looked beautiful in our English Tudor home. Your pumpkins are awesome, and I absolutely love how you styled the entryway pic; should be in a magazine!
Aliya
Lora!!! You have no idea how grateful I am for your sweet comment!! Brought me to tears!!!

I’m a huge lover of pumpkins too and also believe you can never have too many. And I also didn’t purchase as many as last year. I kinda miss it but here in TX, it’s not cool enough and I’m still not in the fall mood. I better get with it! Enjoyed your tour and hopping with you. Happy Fall!
Aliya
Thanks so much Cindy!! There are drawbacks to TX, but your growing season is sooooo much longer than mine here in Ohio!! Had a great time hoping with you as well!!
