DIY Wooden Peg Rail Beautiful Simplicity

We finally added a DIY wooden peg rail to our farmhouse open shelves in the kitchen and I wish we would have done this sooner.

Let’s get started!

Measure & cut rails

01

Decide how long you want the rail to be and how many pegs you want it to have. Then space the pegs evenly across the board

Drill holes for pegs

02

After you have evenly marked the location of the pegs begin drilling holes big enough to fit the peg

Glue pegs to rail

03

Add a little bit of wood glue to each hole and the back of each peg and then push the peg into the hole.

Paint peg rails

04

Now that the peg rails are assembled you can begin priming and painting them to the color of your choice.

Secure peg rail to shelf

05

After the paint dries you are ready to screw the rail to the shelf.
