European Farmhouse Christmas Ornaments

Click the link below to see how I made these European farmhouse DIY Christmas ornaments and saved so much money doing it!

Gather Supplies

Grab some brass hangers, a pair of pliers, brass jewelry wire, and buttons and beads of your choice.

Step 1

Cut the hanger to the length you want for your ornaments. I cut mine anywhere from 10-14inches long. Then using the pliers bend the hanger piece into a circle.

Step 2

Next, take the jewelry wire and begin to wrap it around the hanger to hold the two ends together.

Helpful Hint

It's tempting to cut the wire so you have less to work with. But I found it easier to keep the wire as long as I could manage for the next part.

Step 3

Next, I began stringing the beads and buttons onto the wire as I twisted the wire around the metal hanger.

Helpful Hint

To make each one unique I added extra twists of wire or clusters of buttons in different places. By doing this I was able to create that European farmhouse look.

Step 4

After the hanger piece had buttons and beads all around it I cut the wire and then added a ribbon to hang it on the tree.

Personalized Ornament

I wanted to make these more personal and sentimental so I made copies of pictures of family members from years past and added them to the ornaments.
