How to Create A Dried Floral Wreath Reflecting Creation
Lately, I’ve been enamored with creation. Fall is just so beautiful, cozy, and calm and I wanted to bring that into our home for our Fall decor. So I decided to DIY a dried floral wreath. The Inspiration In the recent Fall Home Tour, I shared a super simple wreath I made from a leaf garland. I like it, but it wasn’t created from leaves I found outside. You know me, I love bringing the outdoors in for my decor. I kept seeing all these beautiful and neutral grasses blowing in the wind EVERYWHERE I went. But every time I asked my husband if he thought the strangers who owned…

Backyard Picnic – Working with What You’ve Got
Since COVID-19 started we have been doing project after project. Its really been non-stop around here. The thing is, as much as we incorporate the girls, they just don’t wake up and think about how fun it’s going to be to paint the walls, sand a bookcase or replace cabinets with open shelves. So I decided I wanted to do something special for them. I wanted them to know how much I loved and appreciated them. I thought a fun way to do that was to have a fun backyard picnic for dinner. Initially, I thought that I couldn’t do it because the garden wasn’t in full bloom. Everything was…

Beautiful Raw Wood Finish | Great-Grandpas Bookcase
We recently completed a raw wood finish bookcase makeover and I absolutely love the look and feel of the bookcase now that it’s finished. Somehow I ended up with a bookcase my great-grandpa built. I don’t know how this happened, but I’m glad it did. I loved the bookcase because my great-grandpa built it, but I wanted to refinish it to match my home decor style. It was originally a warm-red color. I started seeing raw wood furniture around and thought that would match the rest of my decor. So the girls and I began the process of giving the bookcase a raw wood makeover! Preparing for the raw wood…

Functional Storage for Copper Pots and Pans
Disclosure: There are some affiliate links below, but these are products I recommend. I won’t put anything on this page that I haven’t verified and/or personally used. Since we moved in three years ago, this corner of the house has been styled at least 500 different ways. I just couldn’t figure out what to do with it. Initially, I put a huge hutch there. But that didn’t last long because adults hit their hips and kids hit their heads while walking around the table. Recently, I decided to hang two wall racks for our new copper pots and pans in this space. It’s been my favorite layout so far! The…

My First Milk Paint Experience – Faux Fireplace Mantel
It’s been a strange time. Social distancing and quarantine has definitely changed the way we’re living. But to be honest, this new way of life we’ve developed has been refreshing. We are doing more as a family and we are being far more productive and intentional with our time. I’ve heard it said that “if you don’t have a new hobby, side hustle, or skill on the other side of this, then time was never your issue.” I found it to be quite the smack in the face. It challenged me to stop making excuses which prevent me from doing new things. With this thought bouncing around in my head…

DIY – From Vintage Chicken Feeders to Mail Organizer
I don’t believe creativity is a gift for the select few. For a long time, I told myself, "Aliya, you are not creative." Consequently, I would quit every creative endeavor I started when that little voice began talking. Guys! Creativity is so creative!
