Turn on your favorite Christmas book on audio, or turn on some Christmas music to enhance the mood and help get you in the right spirit.

Remove everything from the shelves and counters and then give it a good scrub down before you add Christmas items

After everything is clean and put back in its place begin by decorating low-traffic areas that Christmas decor would fit

In my kitchen that's the top corner shelf, a few pegs on the peg rack, and the window and window sill

I used simple elements like candles, ribbons, evergreen, pinecones, and brass. All together they make a beautiful cottage Christmas

Remember for a cottage Christmas, less is more. You'd be surprised how beautiful the kitchen can be with less. Not to mention so much more functional for everyday living.
