How to Add English Cottage Charm to a  Container Garden

We decided to add charm to our new patio with a simple cottage style container garden this year.  You won’t believe how easy, beautiful and  life-giving it is!

Mix n' match different materials for planters/containers. Terracotta. Whisky barrel. White. Galvanized buckets.

This terracotta planter is beautiful and adds so much old-world charm! Don't be afraid to think outside the box when mixing planters.

If you need extra height try flipping one container upside down and placing another planter on top like this.

Add a bench to the garden. It's very common to find rustic and charming benches in English cottage gardens.

This is a DIY bench made with pavers and rough-sawn boards for only $30! Gorgeous and budget-friendly!

Make sure you place a comfortable chair nearby to relax in the beauty of the garden!

Add plants that are a surprise. Like this climbing rose. Roses aren't herbs, but their beauty is matchless among the rest of the herbs.

This herb garden has been used in our scrambled eggs, frozen in ice cubes, and smelt while rocking.

After you're done, make sure you step back and enjoy your hard work! Gardens are meant for slowing down!
