Simple Cottage Christmas Kitchen Tour | Cozy & Beautiful
I’m excited to share our cottage Christmas kitchen tour with you now that we’ve finished the makeover. The Christmas touches on the vent cover are my favorite.

I’m so excited to share today’s post with you!
Now that the kitchen is officially finished with all the renovations, seeing it decorated for Christmas feels wonderful.
Last year, I think the kitchen looked good, don’t get me wrong.
There is just something in knowing that the project is finished.
Not to mention my favorite part of the kitchen makeover was the vent cover, and we didn’t finish that until this past Spring/Summer.
You can watch me decorate our simple Christmas kitchen on YouTube HERE
How to decorate for Christmas on a budget?
One way I’ve found to save money while decorating for Christmas is to take decor that I use all year long and turn it into Christmas decor.
I’ll share more specifics of that below, but when I’m able to use the same piece of decor in the Spring as I do at Christmas, it helps me not feel like I need to go buy Christmas decor.

I’m able to save money by purchasing one item that I can use all year long.
Some of my favorite decorations to use all year are:
- Candles
- Candlesticks
- Natural items (greenery, pinecones, berries, etc.)
- Terra cotta pots
- Artwork/Picture frames
- Wall sconces
- Vases for greenery
- Baskets
Side note: It also saves you the Christmas storage space you need when Christmas is over.

Cottage Christmas Kitchen Tour | Warm Cozy Tones
The big hitters for warm tones in our kitchen are the wood tones.
The shelves, counters, and the barn beam on the vent cover.
But most people aren’t going to be swapping out shelves and adding barn beams for Christmas.
So I want to talk about some of the easy-to-replicate warm tones that I add to the kitchen for Christmas (most of them are all year long, actually).
Not to mention, I created a cozy cottagecore kitchen using these items before we did the kitchen remodel.
If you’ve been following along since we moved in here, you know that we lived with the kitchen as it was on move-in day for nearly the entire first year.
Makeovers aren’t always timely, and if done too quickly, can be quite expensive.
So to the easy-to-find and cheap items we go!
Copperware

I have found that vintage copperware is relatively cheap and easy to find at thrift stores/vintage shops.
When I first started collecting it, I got lucky and found about 60% of my copperware, and since I was buying in bulk, the owner gave me a HUGE discount.
I added some of the copper to the wall, the peg rack, and the shelves for Christmas this year.
Simple and easy.
It adds a touch of vintage and warmth, helping create that cozy cottage feeling.
Oats & Wheat Berries

I have always stored my oats on the counter, but recently I swapped flour for wheat berries.
We bought a mill and I’ve been making fresh milled recipes for a few months now.
There was a learning curve, but mainly for the sourdough recipes.
When I opened the first bag of wheat berries, I thought they looked absolutely beautiful.
No coincidence that something God created is so naturally gorgeous.
I decided to store a couple weeks’ worth of wheat berries on the counter, and I love the warm and natural beauty it brought to the kitchen.
Bread Boards

Bread boards are another really affordable way to bring some warmth to the kitchen.
The cool thing about breadboards is that they are either functional, so I don’t mind having them sitting on the counter.
But even the boards that I don’t use regularly for cutting up veggies, I lean against the wall, and they take up very little functional space in the kitchen.
Wooden Utensils

The last way that you can affordably and easily add cottage touches to the kitchen is to store out wooden utensils in a crock on the counter.
I love using wooden utensils, and I love storing them out in the open.
All the metal ones go in the drawer, but the wooden ones add too much charm and warmth to be stored in the drawer.
Cottage Christmas Kitchen Tour | Tea Towels

I didn’t buy any tea towels this year, but I will say, it was tempting.
I love tea towels, and if I’m honest, some of my “nicer” ones have been ruined by cranberry and grape juice.
I’m trying to teach the girls what items should be cleaned up with dark towels or paper towels and which items should NOT be cleaned up with the pretty tea towels.
But at the end of the day, it is a towel, created for drying hands and wiping up messes.
So I guess it just comes with the territory.
But since the tea towels I buy are affordable, I don’t get too bent out of shape about it.
Cottage Christmas Kitchen Tour | Vases

I love the new vase I found at Goodwill a couple of weeks ago.
I’m not sure if I’ll keep it out after Christmas is over, but for $3, I don’t feel too bad if it ends up just a Christmas vase.
Another great option to add cozy cottage Christmas touches to the kitchen is crocks.
I use them all over my house for vases because of the way they make a space feel.
Cottage Christmas Kitchen Tour | DIY Dried Orange Slices

I have been wanting to make new dried orange slices for a few years now, but I just haven’t ever gotten to it.
I forced the issue this year, and I’m so glad.
As I was decorating with the greenery, I realized that once the dried orange slices were added, it really did increase the cottage feeling.
It reminds me of a Little Women Christmas.
Speaking of which, I’m pretty sure I’m going to be making a paper chain garland with the girls.
There is something about these simple garlands from simple objects that just feels cozy to me.
Cottage Christmas Kitchen Tour | DIY Burgundy Ribbon

I think in every Christmas post ever I will talk about these strips of DIY ribbon.
I can’t get over how budget-friendly it is to make your own ribbon, AND it is so charming with the frayed edges.
Another little detail that adds to the cottage and old-world style Christmas in our cottage Christmas kitchen tour.
Cottage Christmas Kitchen Tour | Candles

The last thing I’m going to talk about is the candles.
We have been enjoying evenings by candlelight the past few weeks.
I have actually enjoyed it so much that I’m considering starting my mornings this way as well.
The idea of coming in from milking sweet Millie and then drinking my hot water or coffee by candlelight as I read feels like the best way to start each day leading up to Christmas.
Thanks so much for stopping by!
I hope that you enjoyed our cozy cottage Christmas kitchen tour and are inspired to use some of these ideas in your own kitchen this year.
Merry Christmas!

Friend, your kitchen looks so beautiful all dressed up for the holidays. I love all the natural touches and the way you used your everyday kitchen decor, but still made it look cozy and festive. And your photos are stunning! I can’t wait to share in my weekly recap post tomorrow!
