Charming and Simple Spring Kitchen Decor Ideas with Cottage Style
Today, I want to share charming and simple spring kitchen decor ideas inspired by cottage style. Add fresh seasonal touches for a cozy and peaceful atmosphere.

The snow has officially melted here in Ohio.
Which has me so excited for Spring.
I’m ready to get outside and start playing in the gardens again.
But I’m also excited to add Spring home decor with fresh seasonal touches that make it feel lighter and brighter.
How do I make my kitchen look cottage?
There are a few easy DIY projects that you can do to add kitchen style to your kitchen.
I actually talk about the ones we did to add cottage style to our kitchen in this post or in the YouTube video.
But if you are looking for a way to do it without a DIY project here are a few simple decor ideas:

- add color to a neutral foundation
- wall sconces
- candlestick holders
- vintage breadboards
- vintage crocks
- artwork
- flowers/stems
- decorate with everyday items
- tea towels
- baskets
- cafe curtains
- rugs
How to transition from winter to spring decor?

My favorite way to add Spring decor ideas to my house is to look at what I already have.
Shop my own house.
Sometimes I move things from one room to another, and sometimes I go to my decoration storage spot and see what I have there.
But regardless, it’s my favorite way to give my home a Spring refresh.

The best part is it’s free!
Simple Spring Kitchen Decor
Simple Spring Kitchen Decor: Linens/Tea Towels
When I think of transitioning from Winter to Spring home decor, I think of lighter and brighter.
So I swap my tea towels from darker colors to lighter colors.
The tea towel I had on my DIY peg rail was stripped grey and cream, but it had a decent amount of gray.

The tea towel I swapped it for was mostly creamy with some blue.
In the past, I’ve even just used a solid white tea towel when I transitioned from Winter to Spring decor.
Simple Spring Kitchen Decor: Herbs
Another way to make a budget-friendly swap for Spring decor is to have fresh potted herbs.
Not only do they feel like Spring when you see them, but they also smell divine.

Sometimes I will even run my fingers along the leaves just to have the fresh smell on my hands.
Another great benefit is using them to cook.
When I brought this home from the store the first thing my girls said was “Mom! Let’s use this on our pizza this week!”
(We have sourdough pizza most Fridays for our family night.)
Herbs are a great and easy Spring kitchen decor option.
Simple Spring Kitchen Decor: Flowers

If you’ve been following me for long then you know I love flowers.
I was telling a friend the other day about my wedding.
When we were planning my wedding I planned on buying zero flowers.
I had a bouquet for me and my bridesmaids and that was it.
My mother-in-law convinced me to buy a few potted mums to decorate with.

Now look at me.
On hard and frustrating days I’ll head out wandering around the yard with a basket and clippers for flowers to put in a vase.
It’s crazy to look back and see the huge transformation in myself.
Dried
I added some dried flowers to our kitchen in place of the faux rosemary that I had hanging on the peg rail.

There wasn’t anything wrong with the faux rosemary.
It works for Winter and Spring.
But the little blooms on the dried flowers felt more like Spring home decor.
Real/Faux

In my post about how to create a cozy home after Christmas, I shared that I decorated it with small white flowers and greenery instead of evergreens.
So now that I’m transitioning to Spring kitchen decor I swapped those small white florals for flowers that remind me of the first flowers I’ll see here in Ohio.
Tulips and tree blossoms.
When the pear and apple trees bloom I’ll swap these out for the real thing.
I know real stems are messy.

But they also feel and smell so much better than the faux options.
So I try to balance between real and faux Spring flowers depending on the location.
I like to add the flowers in different places so the pops of color and life that they bring is spread out.
I have some on the shelves and some on the counter.
Simple Spring Kitchen Decor: White or Clear Vases

During the Winter I opt for crock vases above any other.
But for a lighter Spring option, I like to swap some of the crocks for clear or white vases.
This seems to brighten up the spaces and it also takes up less visual space.
It makes the space feel less full.
Which goes with that “lighter” feeling I mentioned earlier.
Simple Spring Kitchen Decor: Artwork

This is not something that you “have” to do.
But since I have a collection of artwork I do have some that lean more toward winter.
Snowy scenes.
The drawing I had above the over is actually titled “December Bridge”.
So for those pieces, I do swap them for pieces that feel more season-neutral or Spring/Summer.
I tried to put another one of Gramma’s pieces in the kitchen.

But it wasn’t the right proportion.
So I have an idea to put it in the dining room.
I can’t wait to share it with you.
When my husband and I saw it we both said it felt like she painted a picture from our new farm.
So I can’t wait to display it.
Simple Spring Kitchen Decor: Add Pops Color

I’m not someone who decorates with bold and brilliant colors.
But I do like to add touches of color when Spring comes.
Any color would work, but for me I lean toward blue.
It feels calm and peaceful which is something I want my home to feel regardless of the season.
So when Winter is over I transition to the calm and peace that blue offers.
This is a new vase that a friend gave me.

I absolutely love it!
It fits that white vase, but it also has a subtle pop of color that is beautiful.
Flowers are a great way to add pops of color too.
Honestly, that is one of my main ways to incorporate color into my home decor.
Terra Cotta Accents

Terra cotta is another great way to bring Spring decor to your kitchen.
When I think of terra cotta I think of the garden.
So I like to add terra cotta to
Plates

The last thing I added to my kitchen for Spring decor is a crystal plate we received from my husbands grandma.
I love the scalloped edges.
They match the light fixture that I put in the kitchen when we did the kitchen makeover.
Other than the real flowers and the basil I didn’t buy anything for my Spring decor this year.
But I did go shopping at my local thrift stores and tried to find a white plate that I could layer with this one.
But I came up empty.
I’ll keep trying but for now, it sits here all alone.
