Okay, lets get into these budget-friendly Spring home decor tips!
How do I make my house feel like Spring?
The best way to make your home feel like Spring is to begin adding simple home accessories.
- baskets
- galvanized buckets
- pitchers
- linens
- spring pillow covers
- produce
- florals
- artwork
Of all the items on the list the one that has the biggest impact on making a home feel like Spring would definitely be the florals.
How do you decorate for Spring on a budget?
My top two tips for having a beautiful Spring home on a budget are:
- Repurpose everyday items for decor
- Shop at flea markets, thrifty stores, or vintage stores
As you do these things you’ll begin to see that you don’t have to “buy” as much as you might think.
Do you have a clear or white pitcher in the cabinet above your fridge for lemonade on special occasions?
Pull it out and put flowers in it and set it on the kitchen table.
What about a cake stand for when you take yummy treats to a gathering?
Pull that out too!
Add seasonal treats or just put a floral stem on top of it.
As far as the shopping is concerned, it took me a bit, but I found the best and most inexpensive shops and flea market vendors.
You have to take the time to hunt, but once you find those stores and vendors you’ll spend less money.
Example: I’ve found that one of the local thrift stores has a bin full of baskets and ALL of the baskets are $0.50.
You guys!!
That’s cheaper than the Target $3-$5 section!
Not to mention the added bonus that usually you can find some really awesome and unique baskets with more character at the thrift store.
(I can’t wait to share the 2 baskets I bought for my Spring decor this year!)
Thrifty Spring Home Accessories
This list is by no means an exhaustive list.
You’re gonna finish the list and some of you may ask, “Where are the bunnies?” or “Where are the eggs?”
This is a list of the best Spring home decor if you like to keep things simple and still seasonal.
I like my seasonal decor to be clear what season it is, but during the phase of life that I’m in, doing complete overhauled on my decor is just not possible.
I have 2 little girls and about to be 3 little girls running around this house as we get close to finalizing our adoption.
We’re cooking together, working in the garden, taking care of the chickens, working on projects in our home and at our new rental properties.
We are busy living our lives over here.
So spending hours upon hours decorating for every season is just not for me.
I want the decor to be beautiful, quick, and budget-friendly.
So with that said, lets get into the best thrifty Spring home accessories!
Spring Home Accessories | Baskets
I’m so excited to share these baskets with you!
They were at a local thrift store.
I love this little one i have hanging on our DIY peg rail.
So simple and still so beautiful.
I didn’t grab the big one first because it wasn’t in the bin, so it was $4.
But I went in a month after the first time I saw it and it was still there and I still wanted it.
So I grabbed it.
But $4 for a basket this size and with this much charm is still a great deal!
To make the baskets feel more like Spring I added tulips.
Another thing you could do is add a cute simple ribbon, but I wanted to go with the look that I just came in from the garden.
Spring Home Accessories | Pitchers
Another great Spring decor piece is pitchers.
I have 3 white pitchers that I will pull out and put on the counter or the dining room table at any given time during “flower season” haha!
This little one I have hanging on my DIY pot rack was a gift that a friend gave me.
She knew I was hunting for a white ironstone pitcher and when she found one she bought it and gave it to me.
I insisted that I pay her for it and but found out she didn’t want me to pay her back because the vendor only asked for $1 for it!
Like I said, once you know where to go and get great items for great prices just keep going there!
Spring Home Accessories | Crocks
I’ve talked about my basket obsession pretty openly, but I’ve never talked about my crock obsession.
I love crocks.
All the shapes and sizes.
The more unique the better!
My favorite vintage shop in town, Nina’s Niche, is where I get almost all my crocks.
I’ve been to flea markets and other antique stores and she has the best selection and prices.
I especially love this little one with the super cute handle!
Spring Home Accessories | Linens
For my Spring linens I like to keep them simple.
I have a bunch of mostly white napkins and tea towels, but for Spring I like to pull out my light blue tea towels.
Their softness makes them fit perfectly.
If you have any that are a soft or light Spring color they would be perfect!
Spring Home Accessories | Produce
I am forever buying fresh produce at the grocery store.
At least until the trees and gardens start producing.
So add some produce to your counter tops.
Or put them in a bowl.
If you’re buying them anyway, why not intentionally buy seasonal produce and turn them into decor while they last.
At my house the bowl is full the first day, and then before I know it, it’s empty haha!
Spring Home Accessories | Artwork
When I first started adding vintage artwork to my home decor, I thought that every piece had to corrdinate with the season.
But I quickly learned that is:
- A ridiculous idea
- Way too expensive.
You can always buy seasonal prints, but I’d rather just keep the artwork that speaks to me out.
For instance, the piece that on the wall in my kitchen is one of my absolute favorites of all the pieces I have.
I love the colors and mood of this view.
It’s calming, hopeful, light and speaks of days lived slower.
For me, this is something I want to be reminded of EVERY DAY.
So keeping it up all year long, even in the winter, is something that works for me.
I encourage you to search for artwork that speaks to you on a deeper level than just a pictures that reminds you of a season.
By adding vintage artwork to your collection like this you’ll spend less money and you’ll probably be more deeply moved by the piece.
You can also add pressed flowers to a frame, and use that for sentimental artwork.
Check out this post to read what the pressed flowers mean to me.
Spring Home Accessories | Florals
This is the “home run” of all the items you could use in your Spring home decor.
Florals!
If you’ve been following around over here for very long you know I love adding flowers to just about everything haha!
Flowers make everything prettier.
Real or faux.
For Spring I like to stick with flowers that would usually be blooming in Spring.
Obviously, this is not a hard and fast rule, but if you think about it, a tulip or daffodil will announce Spring much more readily that a rose or even a hydrangea.
That isn’t to say you would never see those blooms in the Spring.
In fact I planted a few rose bushes last year that should bloom late Spring this year.
(I just checked them out today and they look so good! I’m so excited!)
But roses aren’t confined to Spring the way that tulips, daffodil and other early Spring blooms are.
If you like these tulips you’re going to love them even more when you learn they were only $1/stem on Amazon!
Okay guys, those are all the budget-friendly Spring home decor tips I have for you today.
