Thrifty Little Girls Christmas Bedroom | Fun and Colorful

Christmas is even more magical when you have decor in your bedroom which is why I want to share our fun and colorful girls Christmas bedroom.

Magic of Christmas

I loved when Mom would give us a string of Christmas lights and let us go decorate our bedroom at Christmas time.

It seems really simple and in so many ways minor.

But I loved it!

It usually amounted to a string of lights taped to the wall near the ceiling all around the room.

But isn’t it amazing how one simple string of Christmas lights can provoke so much magical Christmas spirit?!

The girls have been asking for some Christmas decorations in their bedroom and I can’t wait to share with you what we did.

The only thing we bought were the items we plan to take to the homeless shelter.

Otherwise, it was FREE.

And guess what??

Our girls love their Christmas bedroom decor so much!

The first night with the Christmas tree, they were begging us to let them keep the lights on all night.

At Christmas time I guess your night light is a string of Christmas lights instead of glowing stars haha!

Simple Thrifty Tips for Decorating a Kids Bedroom for Christmas

Girls Christmas Bedroom| Mitten Garland

I’m supposed to save the best for last right?

But with this, I just can help myself!

This is my favorite part of the girls Christmas bedroom decor.

I saw a few of these mitten garlands on Pinterest and knew exactly how I would incorporate a mitten garland into their bedroom decor.

Other people have used old mittens from when their kiddos were little.

This adds such a sentimental touch and I definitely think I’ll do that someday.

But for this year, we stuck with some new fleece-lined mittens that we will be donating to a local homeless shelter.

The nice part about the garland on the bed is it doesn’t have to go away completely once we drop off these mittens.

The girls and I were working on paper stars and snowflakes yesterday before dinner.

Those are exactly what we are planning on clipping to the garland after the mittens are gone.

I’m loving the simplicity of the paper stars and snowflakes so much, I’m not sure which garland I’ll like most.

In fact, I’m actually planning on adding a few paper stars to our Christmas decor in the living room and entryway this year too.

Girls Christmas Bedroom| Small Christmas Tree

This little tree is a special one.

It’s a Charlie Brown tree.

But, it’s also the tree my husband and I had for our first Christmas married.

It was nothing extravagant.

Quite simple in fact.

We just placed it on a table in the living room.

But as special as that is to me, there is something even more beautiful about that tree sitting in our little girls bedroom for Christmas.

I let them decide on the Christmas ornaments for the tree.

Which is why EVERY SINGLE ORNAMENT HAS GLITTER!!

These girls love all the things the sparkle haha!

Girls Christmas Bedroom| Christmas Books

The next thing we did to create a magical Christmas in the girls bedroom was swap out the Fall/Halloween books for some Christmas books.

I loved the reaction my girls gave me when they walked in and saw that I had added Christmas books to their bookcases.

Does anyone else wish that we allowed our adult selves to get as excited about all the simple things in life like a child?!

I see all the wonder and magic that they find in some of the most ordinary things and I realize that I need to open my eyes a little wider.

I’m clearly missing out on so much excitement and life.

These aren’t specifically Christmas books, but they would make great Christmas gifts.

Girls Christmas Bedroom| Christmas Stuffed Animals

The last thing I did was pull out some of their more Christmas-y stuffed animals.

Inside the built-in bench that my husband built for the girls there is a toy box.

That is where we store a huge portion of the stuffed animals.

Super thrifty.

Super easy.

But it helped create a magical feeling in our girls Christmas bedroom.

It doesn’t look a whole lot different than it does during every other time of the year.

But just a few little changes is all it needs to transform into a Christmas bedroom that is magical.
